I am a PMP-certified IT project manager with over 15 years of experience in a wide variety of industries and technologies. I have led custom development projects as well as package and ASP implementations. I've implemented applications related to manufacturing, sales and marketing, industrial engineering and human resources. I am currently working for Multnomah County leading a project to develop a new web application for managing the treatment services functions of the Juvenile Services Division of the Department of Community Justice. We are doing Agile development, using .NET 3.5, C#, and Silverlight 3. I have a limited duration appointment, and expect to be at the County through August or September of 2010, at which point I plan to relocate back to the Bay Area. I will be looking for career opportunities in the Bay Area, and you can read more about my career goals, strengths and experiences here.
I obtained an M.S. in Computer Science from the OGI School of Science and Engineering at OHSU in 2006. My concentration was in Spoken Language Systems, encompassing speech recognition, speech synthesis, and natural language processing. I am especially interested in statistical natural language processing, and conducted an independent research project on constructing an index of semantic similarity which could be used to score the semantic verbal fluency test. This test can indicate various neuropsychological deficits, such as dementia. The goal of the research was to investigate whether the semantic verbal fluency test could be useful in diagnosing ADHD.
I also do web design and development using HTML, CSS, PHP, MySQL and JQuery, and am available to do freelance work in these areas. My most recent project was a website for a Portland-based birdwatching tour company called Portland Birdwatching Experiences.
My primary interest outside of work is music. I play the piano, a little bit of guitar, sing and do some arranging and composing. I have sung with an a cappella group called PDX Vox, and currently sing with a seven person a cappella group called the Stumptown 7.
